SONAMI: Gestures and Places: An introduction to Sound Practice - Fall 09

In this one-quarter class, performer, composer and sound artist Laetitia Sonami will present divergent approaches to sound composition and installation as they relate to presence, performative spaces and participation. We will listen and view examples of field recordings, sound-walks, audio wearables, interactive sound pieces, sonic narratives and audio synthesis. Techniques will involve sound recording, processing, mixing and building small listening devices. Students will be expected to create small projects focused on these different approaches and create a final project.
