FOR NOVEMBER 12: PRESENTATION of PLAN for the FINAL PROJECT (performance / installation on December 10 in Lecture Hall or other places on campus)

Please give me in writing a brief description of what you are intending to do for your final project, you will then have another week (until the 19th) to rework it / define it further.

You will need to present the piece to the class on the 3rd of December (after the fall break)- This will give you another week to polish it.

No late date accepted!!!

Please specify whether it will be:

- live performance

- Sound from CD

- installation

- film / video with soundtrack

- sonic documentation of a site-specific event

- other?

Location: Lecture Hall, somewhere else on campus?

Intentions: What aspects of sound making/performance do you intend to investigate?

For instance if doing a piece for CD, do you intend to create an environmental piece, a mixed natural /synthesis sound piece, investigate silence, sonic contrasts, ambiguity, noise, spatial references... all of the above ? What are the sound sources?

If doing live performance, what are the sonic constituents and their relationship, what is the performative aspect, is it scripted, improvised.... are the sounds produced with found objects, instruments....?

If doing a soundtrack, what is the relationship between image and sound: strict sonic illustration, abstraction, spatial referencing,... ?

and so on....

Estimated length of the piece: No longer than 10 minutes (unless you check with me).

Technical implementation: What will you need to perform / present your piece (CD player, mixing console, computer, film projector....
