Bellowtron

A fantasy instrument displaying reverse efficiency: Maximum effort with very little result! A commentary on digital “effortlessness”

A large antic bellows (from Nick Bertoni‘s workshop) which I fitted with a set of switches in the upper handle and a PIR measuring the distance between both handles. The bellows being old and leaking air, the airflow is deducted from the rate of change between both handles. The sound is fed thru a large speaker cone attached to the mouth of the bellows. The data is processed in MAX-MSP. I did not get to use it much, but is a surprisingly good exercise!
